Many nonprofit organizations are experiencing flat or marginal contribution income growth when adjusted for inflation. Government funding of programs and services is shrinking across all fields of endeavor while the costs of fundraising continue to rise. The number of experienced development professionals is far from keeping pace with demand. Salaries for competent fundraising executives are rising rapidly and there is persistent turnover among development professionals. These are but a few of the common laments and the stubborn reality.
