ImageMichael R. Maude, ACFRE, FAHP is a founding partner of interNational Advancement Counsel (interNAC). Mike has 30 years experience working in the nonprofit sector as management and strategic planning consultant, group facilitator and campaign strategist.

Through his affiliation with the Menninger Clinic, an internationally renowned psychiatric institution, Mike developed a deep understanding of human behavior and its application to the psychology of giving and to group dynamics. "People with the attitude of abundance give of all they have -- money, time, effort, ideas, skills and talents. They give themselves totally. These are the people who interest me."

Working with a wide array of clients, Mike cultivates a "child-like wonder of the world, an excitement to discover possibilities and find new pathways." He is sought by clients who need assistance in envisioning a robust future and in developing creative strategies that are critical to achieving ambitious goals such as major capital campaigns.

Previous to consulting Mike served long tenures in leading the development programs at the Menninger Clinic and at St. Francis Health Center. He recently completed two terms as Chair of the Association of Philanthropic Counsel, founded the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), serving as Chair and in many other leadership capacities, and served on the Board of Directors of the Mid-American Planned Giving Council and on the Regional Cabinet of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).

Mike has always acted on his belief in the importance of giving back to the community. He has served as President of the St. Matthew's Parish Council, member of the Board of Directors of Catholic Social Services, President of Topeka Community Concert Association and presently as President of the Lawrence Arts Center.

He earned a B.A. in English from the University of Kansas and is one of only six persons to have earned distinction as both an Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE) and Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP). He is a member of the International Association of Facilitators and has presented at numerous conferences including the AFP International Conference, International Education Conference of AHP, and CASE District VI. Mike has created and taught courses at Washburn University in fund raising and nonprofit management. He was a member of the Advisory Council of AFP's Advancing Philanthropy and has published articles there as well as in the AHP Journal. For over two years he was a monthly columnist for Fund Raising Management. He is included in the 2006 and 2007 edition of Marquis Who's Who in America.

In his free time he indulges his love of art by browsing museums and art galleries. At every opportunity he proudly promotes the work of his son and daughter-in-law, both studio ceramic artists. His daughter encourages his travel lust by pressing him to attend performances of the international dance company that she stage manages.
